Photo a Day Project Hertfordshire Family Photographer

When I started my photo a day project at the beginning of last year, I didn’t think I would finish it! To clarify, the prospect of taking a photo a day for a whole year was, to say the least, quite daunting. However, with a little perseverance I did it. Moreover, looking back on these shots I am so glad I did it.

365 Authentic Photo Moments

Importantly, every picture reminds me of a day. It’s just a simple everyday snap shot, but one that reminds me of a treasured moment in time. These are the authentic everyday happenings that make up our lives. Honest and uncontrived, snippets that are too easily forgotten. For sure, these are our family history. How special is it to have a whole year of them?

What I Learnt From Taking a Photo a Day

As a result of taking a photo a day for a year, my creativity was stretched and challenged. Each day would bring something new. As a consequence I learnt to look for different ways shoot in my home. I noticed how the light changed the scene at differing times of day. What’s more, when there was flat light I’d look for composition and colour to create a striking shot. That’s not to say that every picture is a competition winner, far from it. However, each picture tells a story and is my personal view of our life.

Documenting Your Family Story One Photo at a Time

If I could give just one piece of advice to anyone wishing to start their own photo a day challenge, it would be just start it.

After all, it’s all about the journey. Without doubt you will learn along the way. Having to pick up your camera everyday and create will bring a healthy challenge. It will teach you to find the beautiful in the ordinary. I’m sure you’ll realise how everyday moments become your treasured memories. Looking back on your photo a day project is priceless. You’ll not regret it.
