LOOKING FOR THE BEST BARN WEDDING VENUES IN HERTFORDSHIRE?

Hi, You’re here because you’re looking for barn wedding venues in Hertfordshire? This is a great place to start!

I’ve learnt a thing or two about barn weddings over the years. My experience as a Hertfordshire wedding photographer has meant I’ve photographed countless weddings in countless barns. There’s an abundant choice in Hertfordshire, and I’m guessing this can get a little overwhelming. I’m here to pick out a few of my favourites and tell you all about them.

1.

COLTSFOOT COUNTRY RETREAT

Coltsfoot Lane
Datchworth
Hertfordshire SG3 6SB

  • Venue hire costs starts at £5500
  • Maximum number of seated guests 120
  • On site accommodation, including quirky shepherds huts.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR BIG VIEWS AND ALPACAS, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU

Ceremonies here take place in the newly built oak framed conservatory which is connected to the original barn. It’s light and airy, they call it “rustic charm meets refined elegance.”

What I really love here is that it’s all enclosed and designed around a pretty inner courtyard. This makes it ideal for a really social set up. All your guests remain in close proximity and the on site accommodation means you can all stay together until breakfast the next day.

There’s plenty of photography options here. Wandering out into the fields opposite allows for some sweeping backgrounds. Hanging out around the courtyard and garden you’ll find pretty planting, big old doors and even alpacas. Which, incidentally, you can go and feed if you fancy.

Coltsfoot is equally great in all seasons. They’ll throw open the doors in the summer and light the fire in the bar in the winter, which is really cosy.

GREAT VENUE FOR THOSE WHO LOVE A BIG PARTY

This barn is huge, oak beamed and imposingly impressive. It looks equally good left raw as it does decadently decorated with florals. There’s plenty of room to fill with guests who are ready to party! (The Cow Shed bar oozes atmosphere, serving a great espresso martini.)

If you fancy an outdoor ceremony, The Grain Barn is for you. Set to the side of the barn, it over looks fields and the steps up to it help to make confetti shots looks awesome.

The Barns at Redcoats has on site accommodation, big enough for all the bridal party. Each room has its own individual charm, they really know how to decorate here!

Photography options here are varied. There’s plenty of foilage and flowers and big fields. If you prefer to go a bit more rustic and quirky, big barn doors and tractors in the courtyard hit the spot. There’s a pretty iconic shot to be had in the bar area too if the weather keeps you inside.

THE ONE WITH THE ICONIC BLUE DOORS

Yep, you’ll no doubt have spotted a confetti shot in front of the blue doors. However, there’s an abundance of areas here for photography. Honestly, its outdoor spaces are vast and varied. If you’re having a spring wedding for example, you’ll find meadows full of daffodils.

You’ll be able to choose from five licensed ceremony spots, The Tudor Barn, Drawing Room, Old Dairy, Summer House and Horse Barn. I recently shot my first ceremony there, where the bride and groom got married in their pyjamas. This venue really will embrace your quirks.

Animal lovers choose this place for the option to get up close and personal with the resident piglets. Food lovers choose it for their sustainable farm to fork catering options.

On site accommodation options include romany caravans, which are full of character or rooms in the main farmhouse.

EXCLUSIVE FAMILY RUN BARN WHICH OOZES QUALITY.

This place really oozes quality! For your ceremony you’re spoilt for choice here but The Great Barn is the showstopper. Other ceremony spaces include The Lakeside Temple, The Orangery and The Lawns.

For your photography you can embrace the rose Gardens, the lake and sweeping views. Or, go a little shabby chic and head for barn doors, apple trees and weathered brick work.

I love the bridal suite here, big light up mirrors flank a wall giving you plenty of light to get ready in. The mezzanine in the oak barn is where the grooms party gets ready. Warm and characterful, just watch your heads on the beams!

There’s enough room for bridal party and guests to stay over, They’ve just added a new shepherds hut too.

IF YOU WANT A FESTIVAL VIBE WEDDING, THIS BARN COMES WITH GLAMPING.

This barn is perfect for all you festival vibe couples. The on site clamping site is a great area for both couples and families. It’s also a really summery countryside location for your after party.

In contrast to the other barn venues mentioned here, Alswick is a white, light and airy barn space, it has a fresh feel whist still being rustic. Set around a gravel courtyard and close to a sweeping driveway, which is where you’ll walk the confetti line usually.

Photography here is a joy. Especially in the summer when the evening light falls on wildflower fields, it’s very pretty. I do love to seek out alternative options for photos and here I’ve found some old doors which give a great backdrop.

There’s a large bridal prep room which is well stocked with biscuits! It’s a great place big enough for the whole bridal party to get ready in.
