Family Photographer in Hertfordshire. An Extended Family Photo Shoot For Grandparents

When Rhian got in touch looking for a family photographer in Hertfordshire, I was keen to hear her plans. Interestingly her sister Maria and family had recently moved back from Australia so they were looking to document the cousins together as a present for the grandparents. As anyone who has ever had a family photo shoot with me before will know, I’m a big fan of connections! Capturing that between cousins who are just getting to know each other was going to be priceless. As a side note, I’m always very appreciative of recommendations, which is how Rhian came to know about me 🙂

Relaxed Family Photography

Just like many of the families who come to me for their photography, Rhian expressed her concerns.

“My family and I are looking to get some shots of us together as we don’t have many, and are terrible at being in front of the camera (good luck with this!)”

Luckily, camera shy families are my speciality! To be honest, all I need from you is to be yourselves. Most of my family photography takes place outside, in local Hertfordshire countryside and woodlands. Here, you can just hang out together, play, laugh, dance…the choice is yours. Despite potential awkward feelings at first, they’ll soon dissipate and you’ll forget the camera. Simply put, I just need your interaction with each other. Trust me to create beautiful emotive pictures from that.

Family Photography That’s Full of Personality

Often my families will choose natural and muted tones for their clothing for their photo shoot. However, bright and bold works just as well. Typically I’ll suggest that you choose outfits that reflect yours and your children personalities, whilst bearing in mind that you all need to work together. This can be a little tricky with extended family photography. I appreciate how difficult it can be organising some kind of colour scheme that everyone agrees to. Therefore, I’m around to help with Pinterest boards for inspiration, these can be shared with the family. In this instance, Rhian and her family went for a colourful and playful look, which I think looked amazing in the woods.

Variety From Your Family Photographer in Hertfordshire

Generally speaking, as a family photographer, I want to deliver a gallery of varied pictures. An extended family photo shoot will usually include a whole family picture, individual families, some of all the kids and some of them on their own. Obviously, depending on the size of your family this can be tweaked to suit your needs. Importantly though, I want to keep all my pictures fluid and loose, never posed. Indeed, a large family photo needs some organising, but with me it’s more of a gentle nudge to come together. Thus insuring a shot that keeps your family vibe at the forefront. Family Photographer in Hertfordshire

I’m a family photographer based in Hertfordshire but can shoot anywhere that suits. Rhian and her family are local to me so they were happy to take my lead and suggestions for our family photo shoot location. However, if you have a location that means something to you, it’s always possible to choose to have your family photo shoot there. Just drop me a line to discuss your ideas.

It really goes without saying that my time with Rhian and her family was a pleasure. The kids shone, helping me to create everlasting memories for their families. I’m sure that they’ll treasure these pictures of the cousins together for many years.
