Festival Wedding Photography Hertfordshire

If there was ever a quintessentially British wedding, then this was the one! When Ruth and Tommy came looking for festival wedding photography in Hertfordshire, I was beyond excited. The laid back vibe of a festival themed wedding day really suits my style of photography. Typically I take a hands off approach to wedding photography, leaving you and your guests free to party rather than pose. Undoubtably, the best photos are taken when you and your wedding guests are too busy having fun to realise there’s someone with a camera around! Thankfully, I bring my inner ninja to your wedding and blend pretty well.

Festival Wedding With a Church Ceremony

Ruth and Tommy’s festival style wedding started the day before. Wedding guests arrived, making themselves at home in the bell tents in the fields surrounding the family farmhouse. The wedding day fell in the middle of a summer heatwave, so outdoor games, bbq’s and a wedding morning fun(!) run were sweaty affairs! So too was the cricket match, played on the village green prior to the wedding ceremony. I can confirm that there was a lot going on! Although most of the wedding was a relaxed affair, Ruth and Tommy chose to have a traditional church ceremony. However, the vicar, a family friend from the village, kept the ceremony warm and relaxed. I especially loved that the wedding party could walk along the village lane to the church, resplendant in their wedding best. So too did the vicar!

Documentary Wedding Photography in Hertfordshire

After a few family group shots, the wedding reception got under way. For the most part, I’ll shoot your wedding in a reportage/documentary style. Meaning that I photograph moments as they happen, with no intervention. This is your wedding day after all not a photo shoot! However, as the sun scorched both guests and land, at Ruth’s request, we headed into the woods for some couple time. Interestingly, to take a little time out away from your guests, gives you the opportunity to reflect for a moment. In the same breath, it’s great to have a few pictures taken of just the two of you together, freshly married. Importantly, I keep this time very fluid, preferring that you just hang out together whilst I capture the magic. Literally guys, just be there and leave the rest to me!

Hertfordshire Festival Wedding With a Ceilidh Band Reception

Ruth and Tommy’s festival wedding in Hertfordshire, was a melting pot of Italy and Scotland. Tommy’s Italian heritage was celebrated with beautiful platters of anti pasta during the wedding breakfast. It should be noted that if desired, plenty of whiskey was on offer if you wished to wash it down with a dram. Unsurprisingly, Ruth and Tommy’s festival wedding was bought to its crescendo by a lively ceilidh band. I honestly thought that wedding guests would bring the marquee off its stilts. Boy, they partied hard!
