So, your kids are older now. Consequently, you have done the sleepless nights. Nailed the terrible twos. In addition you’ve survived teenage tantrums. However, you still want them photographed with you. Although they have other ideas. Thankfully, family photography with teenagers really isn’t that bad!
You tell them you want a family photo shoot and they groan and skulk off to their rooms. I feel your pain. Similar to you I have teenagers of my own. All with big personalities that aren’t going to be told what to do. Therefore a family photo shoot with teenagers needs to take on another direction. I like to go urban.
Edgy Teenage Photography in Hertfordshire.
In my experience, teenagers don’t want to be sitting amongst bluebells or running through corn fields. None the less they don’t mind grunge. Neither graffiti or industrial, or derelict. Likewise, neither do I.
In fact, I really like it. Luckily, I have a number of urban Hertfordshire locations that I regularly shoot in. These look awesome with a few teenagers and their parents thrown in. They suit a teenagers style and individuality (and maybe their attitude too!) I love the magazine, editorial feel the images have.
Teenagers Get Bored Quickly.
Photographing teenagers usually takes less time than younger ones. Happily, they can take a little gentle direction. So I keep the pace up a bit to keep the enthusiasm flowing. A family shoot with teenagers is usually done within two hours. We can go out early or late, to dodge unwanted attention from passers by. In addition I am open to location suggestions too.
