Same Sex Wedding Photographer
After meeting Matt and Sam for the first time I knew their wedding was going to be a blast. Sitting and chatting over coffee and their plans, I could feel their excitement and enthusiasm. Subsequently, I was thrilled to be chosen as their same sex wedding photographer. My reportage style wedding photography perfectly suited their desire for informal shots of their guests having fun.
If there was a prize for “Warmest Wedding Atmosphere Ever” this one would win hands down! I mean there was just so much love in the room. Perhaps I should say marquee…

Unique and Fun Hertfordshire Garden Party Wedding
Both Matt and Sam had clear views that their wedding day was to be relaxed and a break from tradition. As a same sex wedding photographer I’m always happy with this. Firstly, they chose to take time before the ceremony to have their family and couple shots taken. In keeping with my relaxed approach to wedding photography we kept these short and sweet and pretty fluid. Thus leaving more time for a documentary style approach to the rest of the day. To be honest though, Matt and Sam wanted these out of the way so they could enjoy drinks in the garden with their guests! On the same note, I’m happy to drop the formal shots. However, most couples chose to have a few. I think mainly to please the parents/grandparents.

Celebrant Led Same Sex Wedding Ceremony
So secondly, the boys chose to have a celebrant led wedding ceremony. Undoubtably, a great option if your wedding venue isn’t licensed for marriage. As their wedding was in a family friends garden, the legal formalities were done in a registry office a few days before. Therefore leaving wonderful Kelly, the celebrant, to work her magic on the wedding vows. Clearly she didn’t disappoint. Matt and Sam made emotional promises to each other, authentically and uniquely written from the heart. Of course there were tears, some of them were mine!

Hertfordshire Garden Party Wedding Reception
It was really important to Matt and Sam to keep the vibe happy and fun. Starchy and conservative just isn’t their thing. The drinks flowed and the sun shone, whilst colourful guests enjoyed the post ceremony get together. At this point no one new the treats that were coming. Instead of the usual sit down meal, the boys opted for a “Host the Roast” lunch complete with a croquembouche desert.
However, this was “interrupted” by the arrival of Velma Celli and Sabrina Loueche. Bursting into song, they had everyone up on their feet instantly. The party had started. (And they’d not even had pudding!) Classic anthems by Madonna, Kylie and Queen belted out and all anyone could do was dance and sing along. I’m sure this will be an emotive memory for all who were there.
