Intimate Micro wedding at Houchins Farm with the Gorgeous Alice and Andy.
In a true show of spirit, Alice and Andy decided to go ahead with their wedding this September. Obviously I was thrilled to be their Houchins wedding photographer.
This was definitely the day everyone needed, despite it not being the day originally planned. The perfect excuse to relax a little and let your hair down!
Having already had to postpone their original May wedding date due to Covid, as September loomed it was touch and go whether the new date was going to be possible. However, with greatly a greatly reduced guest list the day actually happened.
Wedding Photography at Houchins
Alice and her gals started the day at the nearby GreyFriars Hotel for bridal prep and the obligatory champagne breakfast. Afterwards they made their way to Houchins for the ceremony.
Houchins Farm proved to be totally adaptable and transitioned from hosting large weddings to micro weddings perfectly. Not only that, the outside marquee provided the ultimate venue for social distancing in the open air.
After an emotional and teary ceremony, guests were treated to live music from Soul to Soul . Needless to say they set the atmosphere totally. Subsequently, family and friends mingled happily. Meanwhile drinks flowed and canapรฉs consumed!
Similarly, as a Houchins wedding photographer I got busy documenting all the awesomeness happening right there!
Jewel Themed Styling at Houchins
Houchins provides a stunning back drop for any styling choice. Originally a chitting shed and grain store the neutrally decorated farm buildings sit comfortably with any decor.
In this instance Alice and Andy chose jewel themed colours. The Autumn hues of the bridesmaids dresses highlighted as pastels in the bouquet. In addition Alice chose an exquisite dress from The Bride in St Albans. Quite clearly she looked amazing in it! Making my job as her Houchins wedding photographer easy.
Why Small Weddings Might be the way Forward!
It was a joy to photograph such an intimate day. The saying goes that “small is beautiful” and I have to agree. That is to say that by just having your closest few with you on the day really concentrates the love. Consequently you get to spend real quality time with everyone. What’s not to love about that?
As the current climate dictates that we don’t mix in large groups I think micro weddings will be the way forward. After all nothing can get in the way of true love. Above all, nothing got in the way of Alice and Andy’s love.
To conclude, in a time where days have been dark, these two put a smile on many faces. They had “their day”. A day full of sunshine and spirit. Hopefully, my photos will take them back there each time they look at them.
A Few Kind Words From Alice and Andy
“From the moment I first met Denise it felt like Iโd known her for years.
She has a very warm and easy going style. Denise was incredibly flexible, moving dates as our original wedding date was postponed due to covid. She also worked around us potentially having two weddings dates (we are having another celebration next year). This was a tremendous help and definitely helped reduced my stress levels!!
She was an absolute dream photographer and fitted in so well on the day – my nephew now wants to be a photographer! As soon as I saw Deniseโs photos of a wedding at our venue a year or so back, I knew she was the right photographer for us. I was definitely not disappointed as she produced some beautiful pictures which we absolutely love. She really captured the joy of the day and the emotion! Thanks Denise x”
