Luton Hoo Hotel Photographer 80th Birthday Celebrations.

I consider myself pretty lucky to be involved in so many happy occasions. Having photographed many parties, weddings, baptisms, family get togethers, and birthdays….the list is endless, and it never fails to delight me!

Admittedly, I think it’s truly special that so many wonderful people take time out from their usually busy lives to just take a moment to spend time with their loved ones. This particular family took a weekend to celebrate their mum’s/grandmother’s 80th birthday!

Cradled in the beautiful grounds and building that is Luton Hoo Hotel, they played, chatted, laughed, ate and generally enjoyed each others company. Oh, and they lucked out totally with the weather too.

Extended family photo shoots.

I come from a pretty large family myself, so photographing whole family groups doesn’t phase me at all. This is lucky as there were 25 of them altogether!

The family wanted a few traditional yet relaxed group shots firstly. This was followed by some candid photography as they enjoyed a chilled out champagne and canapé reception on the sun drenched terrace. Luton Hoo Hotel do this “oh so well” coupling a laid back ambience and the most wonderful views.

As I snapped away capturing all the moments, one or two things struck me that afternoon.

1. Isn’t it funny that no matter how grown up we all get, as soon as we’re in the company of our siblings we resort back to being kids again. It’s like no time ever passed. And that’s great a tonic for the soul.

2. Being 80 and having your children and grandchildren gathered round you to celebrate is a beautiful and simple pleasure. (I hope I am blessed enough to have the same on my 80th!)

3. Families are like branches on a tree. We grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one.

Kind words form the family.

I have included a few favourites of our time together and a few kind words from Clare, the kind daughter who arranged this for her mum. She also had the unenviable task of collating their print and product order!!!
