5 Easy Steps to Help You Find a Wedding Photographer Perfect For You.

Step 1. Settle on a Wedding Photography Style.
So, you’re getting married! You’re going to want to know how to find a wedding photographer perfect for you and your wedding day.
A good place to start is to decide what style of wedding photography you love.
Trawl through wedding photographers websites looking at what they do. You’ll notice that some focus on capturing natural moments whilst others are more at home setting up posed shots. Similarly, editing styles vary greatly. Notice how some photos are light and airy, others might be dark and moody. There will be many to choose from so my advice here is to go with your heart. Choose a style that reflects how you want your day captured.
I’d describe my style of wedding photography as documentary. This could well be wedding photography perfect for you? I’ve written another post to explain exactly what documentary wedding photography means. You can read that here.
“Your style fitted our brief perfectly. Relaxed and comfortable with the “mingling amongst guests” vibe. All our people said how amazing you were and so easy to get on with. You made sure to get all the shots you want whilst just blending into the wedding.”

Step 2. To Find a Wedding Photographer Perfect For You Dig Deeper.
Once you have chosen a wedding photography style, now look a little closer! Does the wedding photographers website show consistency? Do they have just one or two great shots with not much else to show, or is their portfolio full of stuff you love? Visit their social media accounts, you should find recent work there. Mine is here!
Any wedding photographer worth their weight will be happy to show you real client galleries. With so much fakery around these days, this is important to check.
Is the wedding photographer perfect for you within your price bracket? Compare packages, and importantly make sure you are clear about what is included. (A word of warning here – if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is! A cheap wedding photographer might just be a false economy.) Your perfect wedding photographer is the one preserving your wedding story, make sure that they are doing the job they promise too. Check out previous client testimonials and reviews on social media.
“You were dreamy! Honestly, I cannot thank you enough. Everything you did was exactly how I imagined and hoped. I loved the rapport we had from the off and I knew that you were 100% on my vibe. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you and then subsequently being in your company.”

Step 3. Chat To The Wedding Photographers That You Think Might Be Perfect For You.
I’ll always meet each couple before booking. Many photographers don’t, and that’s fine, but for me this is key. Your perfect wedding photographer is going to be with you all day long. You need to know that you’re going to get along. Getting a feel for someone is priceless in my opinion, and being able to talk freely about your wedding day is important. Ideally you will both be singing from the same song sheet and you should feel comfortable in their presence.
I love to hear what my couples are planning. Every wedding day is different and there’s no size fits all here. This meeting should answer all your questions. However, a great wedding photographer should be at the end of a phone with any on going questions or concerns that you might have – I know I am!
“From the very first moment we met, we knew we had made the perfect choice for our wedding photographer. Not only are you insanely talented you’re such a warm, friendly and caring soul. We trusted you straight away and I feel you can really see how at ease we (and our guests) felt in our photographs.”

Step 4. Tie up Loose Ends and Gather Extra Information.
Don’t be afraid to ask for more information. You might at this point have a definite idea of who is the perfect wedding photographer for you. On the other hand you could still be unsure.
Sensible questions to ask can include, how many hours of photography are included in the package? Also, how long you will have to wait for your photos after the wedding day. Similarly, will your perfect wedding photographer provide a sneak peek of photos.
“You captured our wedding day beautifully! We honestly couldn’t have asked for more from you. Both on the day and pre-day, as well as after care, helping us to create a beautiful album. You made everything so easy for us and went above and beyond. We absolutely love your natural photography style.”

Step 5. If You Love it All, Book Your Perfect Wedding Photographer.
If you tick all the above boxes then go ahead and book! Wedding photographers can get booked up 1/2 years in advance. Especially during the summer months. You will be required to pay a booking fee and will be told when the final balance is due. This can vary from photographer to photographer but a guide is 2 weeks to a month before the big day.
It’s a super exciting time and you’ll have a load to think of. Importantly though, it’s a happy time and you should feel confident in your choice of suppliers. I hope this helps you make an informed choice when wondering how to find a wedding photographer perfect for you.
“The role of photographer is such a huge one on your special day. Anyone will be privileged not only to have Denise a part of it, but to also have the special photographs she creates with heart and soul forever.”
