Small Wedding Venues in Hertfordshire
If you are planning an intimate wedding with just a few guests, you are probably hunting for small wedding venues in Hertfordshire. Luckily the county has them in abundance. The choice is vast, so I’ve narrowed the search for you. Here are a few of my favourites which should cater to many styles of small weddings.
Coltsfoot Country Retreat.
A wedding at Coltsfoot Country Retreat, or Coltsfoot Farm as it’s known by locals, is an absolute treat. Whatever the season, Coltsfoot won’t disappoint. Cosily cocooning in winter with twinkly lights and burning log fires. Similarly, summers at Coltsfoot are stunning as the sun sets over the fields.
Situated around a cobbled court yard the main barn services the whole day. Likewise the surrounding rooms, beautifully decorated, serve as a retreat for guests as the celebrations come to an end. Exclusively yours for the day, Coltsfoot Country Retreat is perfect for a smaller wedding.
In addition to all that Coltsfoot offers as a small wedding venue in Hertfordshire, they also home alpacas! Simply perfect for some quirky wedding photos.
Tewin Bury Farm.
Put simply, I love Tewin Bury Farm as a small wedding venue in Hertfordshire! Although this place is big enough to host several weddings at a time, it doesn’t lose it’s intimacy for small weddings.
Importantly, Tewin Bury Farm has a choice of barns for you to choose from. My favourite being The Stable. This 17th century red brick building just oozes charm and character. Complete with two minstrel galleries and its own bar. Not to mention exposed beams and views over the passing River Mimram.
Likewise, I adore wandering around the surrounding fields, buildings and gardens for those important wedding photos. Small wedding venues in Hertfordshire need to be photogenic!
Rowley Barn, an Unexpected Small Hertfordshire Wedding Venue.
Rowley Barn isn’t highly marketed as A Hertfordshire wedding venue. None the less, they do weddings well! This is a quirky option for a small wedding.
Rowley Barn is a dry hire venue. To clarify, you would need to bring in your own caterers. (There are so many exciting options for this around Hertfordshire.) However, Rowley Barn is stunning and lends itself well for smaller weddings. The cosy, yet light filled 17th century barn is the perfect backdrop to your wedding day.
Proudly boasting original oak beams, the barn has been sympathetically restored. Ultimately you will have a contemporary yet traditional shell to work with. Perfect for putting your personal style into. Likewise the gardens and surrounding countryside make for wonderful places to hang out in as day turns into night.
Houchins
Strictly speaking Houchins wedding venue is in Essex rather than Hertfordshire. However, it’s a great small wedding venue so I’m including it! Call that authors prerogative!
Houchins is another wedding venue that you will hire exclusively. As a result your wedding day instantly becomes more intimate. Moreover, the stunning country cottage style gardens are perfect for a drinks reception. If it’s a bit chilly, they will even provide a fire pit.
Interestingly there are several options for your small wedding. The Loggia adjoins a marquee for outdoor ceremonies. The Foundry is an inside option. Neutrally decorated ready for you to put your own spin on it. Also on offer, for very small ceremonies is the The Drawing Room. Set in the main house with a traditional working open fire, this has to be a top choice! Not only that, you also have a woodland area. Tucked away behind a moat, amongst the trees, you can declare your love for each other in surrounded by nature.
